A Place of Hope
A Great Start
A Place of Hope (APOH) is a 501c (3) nonprofit organization in the United States and is registered in Sierra Leone. It was founded in 2016 by its founder Henrietta Jones whist in school. We are a grass root and boots on the ground organization that believes in a strong presence in the communities we serve.
It was established as an agency with the goal of giving back to minority groups in Montgomery County and in Sierra Leone, my native country. The goal of APOH since its inception was to provide access to healthy and nutritious food including culturally appropriate food that meets the culinary traditional diet of the residents in the communities we serve in collaboration with Manna Foods and other agencies.
Due to the demands of school and being a single parent, we were limited to few food drives and community activities in collaboration with county to bring an awareness to food insecurity and services that were available to residents and local agencies. Our first school based program was launched in 2019.
My mission however, remained in tact to educate minority groups, and those with the lack of immigration status who were misinformed, unaware or afraid many of whom had children to reach out for the services they needed.
Through this venture, we have built a trusted relationship with our residents and aim to continue to helped build the bridge
In 2020 APOH reached out to numerous communities in Sierra Leone and the US during the pandemic feeding over 35000 kids and adults through our school based lunch and community food distribution to eliminate food insecurity.
We have also provided numerous scholarships and emergency services to families and continue to work with in collaboration with other agencies referring many residents to wrap around and healthcare services.

The program saw an increase into other underserved communities and schools.
